John, have you
ever heard the question, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around
to hear it, does it make a sound?”
That’s modern-day politics in a nutshell.
You can have the clearest values, the strongest message, and the best plan
to make life better for working people — but if people never hear it, it
doesn’t mean a damn thing.
That’s why I want you to hear this directly from me: We just put our first
ad on TV.
It’s a big step. And it’s not something people-powered campaigns can
easily afford.
We’re competing in a broken system where corporate PACs and AIPAC can
spend unlimited money to make sure their candidates are heard everywhere,
all the time.
Getting our first ad on TV matters. But now, we have to keep outside
groups from drowning out our message and dominating the narrative.
So even though I don’t love asking for money, I need your help:
Can you chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to help us get
our message in front of more Michiganders?
