Dear friends and partners,

The last few weeks have been filled with distressing stories of violence and hate that have weighed heavily upon us all. But this morning, I visited our schools, and if you’re looking for a source of light, you need only look there—where students were singing, dancing, laughing, and learning on playgrounds and in classrooms, restoring my faith in the future. As we head towards 2026, we continue to fight to protect vulnerable populations, and I am proud to celebrate moments of joy and accomplishment.

I remain committed to keeping students and families centered in my decisionmaking in the year to come, and I hope you and your loved ones have a joyful and restful holiday season.

Happy holidays!

In these last several weeks of the Fall semester, my team and I joined neighbors and partners at CicLAvia on Melrose Ave, met with the Greenway Arts Alliance and community leaders, and convened my Teacher Advisory Group to hear directly from educators. We also celebrated the new Laurel EEC outdoor classroom with a ribbon-cutting, honored community service at the Pacific Palisades Community Council Awards Gala, and recognized outstanding student achievement at Venice High’s Jackets of Excellence. We also visited schools across the district, including Marina del Rey MS, Goethe International Charter, Playa Vista ES, Rosewood ES, Fairfax HS, Vanalden ES, Bertrand ES, Fullbright ES, Kentwood ES, Kentwood EEC, and Playa del Rey ES. It’s always great to visit our schools and communities during this festive time of year!
