Team – Trump and Republicans' "big promised health care vote" to save Affordable Care Act tax credits came and went last week. 

Yet nothing's changed about the fact that on Jan. 1, premiums will skyrocket for roughly 225,000 Coloradans and 24 million folks across the country – because on Trump's orders, Republicans voted down our bill to extend the subsidies and stop that from happening.

And after a year of helping Trump's agenda succeed, GOP Senate leadership has proven to be a catastrophic failure for working families.

As long as Trump runs the White House and Republicans who refuse to defy him run the Senate, meaningful action to lower health care costs is nearly impossible. But Colorado can't afford to wait on Washington to come to grips with reality, let alone deliver the affordable health care solutions we need. 

That's a big reason why I'm running for governor: Because health care is a right.

And as Colorado's next governor, I'll do everything in my power to make it truly affordable, reliably accessible, and a right we enjoy universally.
