Legislative and State Government Updates

Looking Ahead to My Next Chapter of Public Service

Serving in the Indiana Senate for nearly 10 years has been a tremendous honor. I am deeply grateful to all Hoosiers, especially those of you in Senate District 17, who placed trust in me and to my colleagues with whom I have worked with over the years to advance meaningful policy for our state.

With my new appointment as Chair of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, I will be resigning from the Indiana Senate as required by this new role. My last day of service will be Jan. 8, 2026. This transition allows me to continue serving Hoosiers across Indiana in a new capacity while remaining focused on issues critical to the future of our state.

Representing Senate District 17 has been a privilege, and serving as a voice for the families, businesses and communities in northeast Indiana has been among the most meaningful aspects of my time in the General Assembly.

I am proud of the work I accomplished during my time in the Senate and am grateful for the dedicated staff, state agencies and community leaders who helped make this progress possible. While my role as a public servant is changing, my commitment to serving Hoosiers remains the same.

I look forward to beginning this next chapter and working alongside fellow commissioners, stakeholders and others to ensure Indiana's utility system continues to meet the needs of families, businesses and communities across the state.

Supporting Hoosiers Through the Holidays

While the holidays are a time of celebration for many, they can also bring added pressure for Hoosiers experiencing financial strain, emotional challenges or uncertainty. If you or someone you know needs help this season, I encourage you to review these resources that can help provide guidance, relief and support.

As we move through the holiday season, let's look out for one another. Extending kindness and support to our neighbors can make a meaningful difference for families who need it most this time of year.

A Busy Week in the District

It was a tremendous week in District 17. I was humbled and excited to present an award from Gov. Braun to an amazing young lady, Patty Grant. Patty led the Wabash Foundation for many years and pushed it to record breaking heights. Along with building the foundation, she began an educational early learning scholarship program that encourages families and individuals to invest in themselves and prepare for the future.

I also attended a policy discussion on Senate Enrolled Act 1 hosted by the team at Grow Wabash. It was great to have so many local leaders present with whom I have served with over my tenure in the Senate. I will miss my regular interactions with these servant leaders who truly want the best for rural Indiana and the communities they serve.
