The Russia Report is out.
It revealed that Britain is “playing catch-up” when it comes
to Russian interference – and that the government "actively
avoided"looking for interference during the EU
referendum.
While we welcome its publication,
we must know if our democracy is threatened, and we
must allow MPs to hold the Government to account
This comes just a day after
parliamentary oversight of our trade agreements was ruled
out. Now more than ever, we need transparency and honesty in
our politics.
Thanks to our supporters,
yesterday thousands of emails and messages were sent to MPs,
urging them to give parliament a say in our trade deals. Will you help
us keep holding the Government accountable? Donate to the
Transparency Fund now.
The Russia report contains
information on foreign interference stretching back to
2016. It is disgraceful it
has taken so long for these revelations to see the light of day.
Just yesterday, Parliament
voted against
having a say over our future trade policies, leaving up to the
government to wield all the power. That means parliament
having no say
on food standards, no say on animal welfare, no say on Trump’s
America. We must ensure our representatives can truly
represent us. To do this,
they need oversight, and they need
transparency.
The countries we are hoping to
strike deals with give their parliaments’ the chance to oversee deals
with the UK, why can't we expect the
same?

Any outside interference in our democracy is deeply
troubling. Obfuscations and shady tactics by a small
executive need to be scrutinised by the
legislature. Parliament must be allowed to
freely examine our nation’s policy - be
that in trade or security - before they are signed off.
Please, join us in the
fight for transparency in politics - we need your help now. You
can help defend democracy by donating to our
Transparency Fund today.
