Chief Keadle
Billy Keadle named Police Chief

Billy Keadle was recently appointed as City of Hurst Police Chief and confirmed by the City Council during the December 9, 2025, city council meeting. Chief Keadle has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 24 years with the Hurst Police Department. He has served in numerous assignments, including patrol, SWAT, traffic, criminal investigations, and training. He is a graduate of the School of Police Supervision, Leadership Command College, and the FBI National Academy. He also earned a Master of Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University. Keadle has successfully served as assistant police chief since 2018 and as acting police chief following Chief Steve Niekamp’s sudden passing.

“Chief Keadle has a strong understanding of the expectations surrounding the City’s financial and strategic planning processes,” City Manager Clay Caruthers said. “He also shares my vision for customer service excellence, and he’s excited about the opportunity to serve and lead his team. I am confident that under Chief Keadle’s leadership, the Hurst Police Department will continue to build upon the strong foundation laid by every active and retired member of our police department.”

We look forward to Chief Keadle stepping into this role and wish him great success. There will be an opportunity to connect with him at our annual Town Hall Forum on February 19.

Cease the Grease
Cease the Grease

This holiday season, we’re making it easier than ever to Cease the Grease! The City of Hurst encourages residents to collect and recycle or safely dispose of all used fats, oils, and grease. When these items are washed down the drain, it sticks inside pipes. This hardening eventually leads to build-up that clogs and damages the sanitary sewer system. This can lead to a sanitary sewer overflow, where raw sewage backs up into your home, lawn, neighborhood, and streets. Not only does this cause health issues, it can also runoff into a nearby creek or stream, affecting our drinking water. In an effort to help our residents and our city, you can recycle your grease for FREE at our drop-off location, located at the north end of the Service Center (2001 Precinct Line Road) parking lot at the corner of Cannon Drive and Precinct Line Road from November 3, 2025 to January 30, 2026.
