Dear neighbor,
Last weekend, we saw unimaginable tragedies at home and abroad. My heart goes out to the victims and all those affected by the shooting at Brown University and the antisemitic terror attack in Australia. We must come together to put an end to gun violence and condemn the scourge of antisemitism. On a brighter note, House Democrats secured enough bipartisan support to force a vote to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies for 3 years.
Trump and Republicans had this entire year to come up with a healthcare plan to prevent premiums from rising. Instead, they created a healthcare crisis by cutting Medicare and Medicaid, and letting the Affordable Care Act tax credits expire. House Democrats have a responsible path forward with our discharge petition.
Unfortunately, Speaker Johnson just sent the House home early for the holidays without addressing the healthcare crisis. I am calling on Republican leadership to bring this bill to the floor for a vote immediately, as well as reverse the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
To hear more of my thoughts this week, here's my final press conference of the year:
As 2025 comes to an end, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve our communities in Congress. This year, I introduced 30 bills, cosponsored over 360 pieces of legislation, and secured $750,000 for a stormwater infrastructure project in our district.
In addition to my work in Washington, my office resolved more than 1,064 casework issues. This resulted in over $5.3 million being given back to constituents who were owed money by federal agencies. Additionally, my team and I held over 320 district meetings, sent over 22,000 responses to constituents, and attended over 380 events. Once again, serving you is my life’s greatest honor. I hope you and your loved ones have a happy holidays and a great new year.
If you are in need of help with a federal agency, please contact my LA office at (323) 651-1040, or you can visit our webpage here.
I look forward to updating you again soon.
Warmly,
Ted
