Congresswoman Van Duyne's Weekly Update
Image

Washington, D.C. – This week was our last legislative week of 2025, wrapping up a historic year!

I had a great time joining my friend, Joe Popolo, the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, for a White House visit. Terrific to see so many familiar faces and hear the President address many of our U.S. Ambassadors.

On Tuesday we had our last Small Business Committee Hearing of 2025, we met to examine the existing structure of the Small Business Administration’s disaster assistance programs and assess how the Trump Administration is strengthening federal disaster response capabilities.

Later that day, House Republicans passed the Kayla Hamilton Act, which closes a dangerous loophole that allowed violent illegal aliens into our country. We are taking action to ensure that what happened to Kayla never happens again.

This week I had a very special guest from North Texas, Kylie Daugherty, and her dad Nick. She shadowed me for the day, and got to visit the House floor for votes, tour some fun places in the Capitol including the Old Senate Chamber and Old Supreme Court Chamber. Thank you to Speaker Johnson for taking the time to speak with Kylie.

House Republicans passed the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act – this legislation offers common-sense solutions to lower premium costs, expand access to quality care, provide every American with more options and flexibility to choose coverage that works for them, and bring greater transparency to America’s health care system.

On Thursday, Rep. Panetta joined me in reintroducing the Ensuring Children Receive Support Act, a bipartisan bill that will go a long way in safeguarding innocent children from neglect by strengthening enforcement of the Passport Denial Program. Read more in my Work of the Week below.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!!
