This week New York City entered Phase 4. Once the epicenter of the virus, Dr. Fauci has singled out our state as the model for fighting Coronavirus. From our health care heroes to front line workers to citizens willing to help out those in need, New Yorkers have stopped community spread with community — and by wearing a mask.

We never want to live through a month like April again, and now is not the time to forget what we suffered through. Let’s reflect on how New Yorkers stepped up and were New York Tough. A few ways:
"In our building, a young married couple are both doctors who work on the front lines and do back to back twelve-hour shifts with no time to shop or cook. The other residents in our building take turns of preparing and cooking a good hot meal for them, delivered at 6 PM. I cook for love of these doctors who sacrifice night after night. But that's what you do - you step in and I hope it gives them comfort and they feel the love that is in these dishes." - Susie R.
"I have a very small jewelry business, and I decided to make 'Thank You' bracelets for our nurses and essential workers to show appreciation for all they are doing!! I asked for donations of old jewelry which I remake into the bracelets. I have made and distributed almost 300 of them. What a joy to see that little glimpse of delight on the faces of the recipients! I plan to keep making them as long as this pandemic continues." - Nancy R.
"I volunteer as a Department of Health Call Center representative for the COVID-19 Hotline. I take calls from the public, answer their questions regarding testing, and schedule them for testing." - Marie H.
When NY’s phased reopening began, the goal was to avoid an uptick. What is happening now is even better: Our numbers continue to go down. This is great news. But it’s up to us to keep this progress going by following science, data, and facts.

Reopening does not mean returning to the past. Reopening means moving toward a new, safer normal. Be smart. Wear a mask. Stay six feet apart. Get tested.
