This week, we want to lift up workers who are showing the entire country what solidarity looks like — the baristas of Starbucks Workers United.
What started back in November as the Red Cup Rebellion has now become the longest strike in Starbucks’ history. Right now, workers remain on a nationwide Unfair Labor Practice strike, demanding a real contract.
They are fighting for higher pay, fair and reliable hours, safe staffing levels, and an end to union busting. And they’ve made their message crystal clear:
NO CONTRACT, NO COFFEE.
In April 2024, national framework bargaining began. Over the next nine months, baristas sat at the table for hundreds of hours, reaching 33 tentative agreements that would meaningfully improve their workplaces.
Then, in September, union baristas presented their economic proposals — proposals to raise wages and improve benefits so workers could actually get by.
And in December, Starbucks said no.
They rejected every single proposal and countered with an unserious package that did not raise wages in the first year of the contract and failed to address the core issues of staffing and hours. Talks broke down.
Too many baristas are struggling to pay rent, put food on the table, and plan their lives — while Starbucks executives continue to make millions. And while they tell workers there’s no money for fair wages or staffing, Starbucks has spent $240 million on union-busting law firms to try to stop workers from organizing.
There are more than 4,500 Baristas in over 150 cities uniting for better treatment. This is a national movement, and it deserves national solidarity.
So here’s how we show up:
First — honor the boycott. Do not purchase from Starbucks while workers are on strike.
Second — stand on the line. Join baristas on the picket line and show them they are not alone. You can find actions near you at nocontractnocoffee.org.
Until Starbucks delivers a fair contract, we stand with baristas — loud, proud, and united.
No contract. No coffee.

Striking Starbucks Workers Get Visit and Lunch from Sen. Gallego
"Kalota’s union is demanding Starbucks negotiate a fair contract. And they have support from Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego. He said unions are leverage over the rich and powerful. 'Think about how ridiculous this is, they shut down a Starbucks because they are afraid of working-class people getting a decent wage and having some power,' Gallego said. A Starbucks spokesperson says 99% of stores are open, and the company is ready to negotiate once the union is willing to resume contract talks."
