From the start, Trump and his cronies have baselessly spun a tale that our nation’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis was nothing but great. In a recent interview, Dr. Fauci disagreed, highlighting that although some states have handled the spread well, “as a country, when you compare us to other countries, I don’t think you can say we’re doing great. I mean, we’re just not.”

Now, Trump aides are working to undercut Dr. Fauci, the administration is blocking coronavirus data from the CDC’s public health expects, and the American Action Network is running ads to stop our district from sending a scientist to Congress.

We need leaders who trust public health experts, especially in times of crisis. We need leaders who believe in science. We need leaders who will do the research. What we don’t need is science-denying Rep. Lee Zeldin winning his reelection campaign in November.
