With less than a week to go, are you ready for mince pies, mulled wine, and multiple versions of A Christmas Carol? It’s no surprise that Charles Dickens picked a banker to be his villain, John.

Responsible for doling out crippling debts, soaring mortgage payments, and awful working conditions, Ebenezer Scrooge is a character prime for redemption, who’s spawned hundreds of adaptations and remakes. Sadly, it isn’t all fiction.

Despite the 182 years that have passed since the book was published, our money and banking system is still driving inequality, poverty, and homelessness today.

But we can’t rely on ghosts and spirits! And we haven't got time to wait for individual bankers to change their ways, John - we need the government, the Bank of England, and regulators to step in - and together, it’s our job to make them.

Positive Money exists to redesign our economic system to put people and planet above profit. To do this, we rely on the generosity of supporters to run campaigns and seize media moments to push back against the power of big finance. [1]

Having regular donations every month provides us with a solid financial foundation to build on and strategise with in the months and years to come. Because unlike the big banks, we don't have deep pockets, so we can't do this without your help - and your hope.

Hope that one day, we can have a Christmas without Scrooges.

If you can John, please set up a regular monthly donation today.
