Friend, it's Sen. Andrew Gounardes. Late last week, I got to partake in a timeless tradition of NYC politics…a New York Post Editorial Board hit piece about my Raise Act. ⬇️

It was truly an impressive feat by the Post : an editorial where nearly **every** sentence was wrong.
Some of the misinformation lowlights include 1️⃣ arguments that my bill will stifle innovation ( it's specifically designed not to do that ), 2️⃣ implying that it allows individuals to sue tech companies ( the editorial itself concedes that this is a lie ), 3️⃣stating that my bill tries to set international regulatory standards (... what? ).
Friend, my RAISE Act is like putting a seatbelt in a sports car — it's just common sense.
New York can either be a leader on critical AI safety legislation, or we can cave to the pressure of the same Big Tech and VC bullies pushing Trump's AI safety ban. Just this week, a new poll showed that 67% of Americans think we aren’t doing enough to regulate the catastrophic dangers of AI. We all know which side is the right one, and it sure as hell isn't aligning ourselves with Big Tech oligarchs.
The RAISE Act is just one of the 100+ commonsense bills I've worked on during my time in Albany. If you appreciate this legislation and bills like it, can you chip in to support my re-election campaign today? Eligible donations can be matched 12x by the state. [[link removed]]
