As the co-host of the Easterseals podcast "Everything You Know
About Disability is Wrong," I get to talk to disabled advocates,
actors, educators, and athletes. In a recent episode, we talked about
the term "special needs" and why many of us don't
think our needs are actually all that special!
To eat, to drink water, to go to the bathroom, to be loved, to love,
to feel needed: There might be different ways for us to achieve them
- but what is so special about the needs we all have?
The fact is that even disability itself is not so special. Disability
