Families across our state have faced tremendous challenges in the past few months. Thousands of federal workers missed their paychecks, and essential federal programs were at risk.
Our agency worked to be there for Marylanders every step of the way and to make resources available to everyone. But today, I’d like to highlight the Maryland Food Bank's work during this time and throughout the year to reduce food insecurity across our state.
Every team leader, volunteer, driver, and person at the Maryland Food Bank truly stepped up and met the moment with action. Their service inspires me, and it’s one of the reasons I was honored to visit their Lansdowne location in November.

We also had the opportunity to join Nourish Now, a non-profit organization, at its Food Recovery Center in Montgomery County. Nourish Now is an amazing organization that also prepares and distributes meals to Marylanders throughout the year and on holidays.

I’m incredibly grateful for the volunteers who have dedicated their time to serving their friends and neighbors during times like these.
Even when the federal government throws challenges our way, I know Maryland is resilient, and I’ll keep fighting to defend our communities and keep making Maryland a more prosperous state.
Thank you for being part of the solution.
My very best,
