John,

As 2025 comes to an end, it can be easy to focus on the setbacks that have occurred in the worlds of anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and tax. FACT, along with our members and allies, have spent much of this year fighting against the rollback of core financial transparency measures, and working to mitigate one of the largest tax cuts for big American corporations in history. That work has paid dividends. For example, the Corporate Transparency Act is still the law of the land and, just this week, a federal court of appeals affirmed the constitutionality of this landmark anti-money laundering law.

So we've been busy, but we haven't just been playing defense.

FACT has continued to expand our work at critical policy intersections, including launching a new line of work pushing back against federal subsidies for U.S. multinational oil and gas companies, and continuing to break ground at the nexus of illegal gold mining and international money laundering.

The result? The press, policymakers, and global stakeholders have taken notice.

By the numbers, FACT's impact in 2025 can be seen in:

  • 160+ unique press hits and published op-eds, nearly twice as many as in the previous year.

  • Two new groundbreaking reports.
  • 60+ new publications, including newsletters, press releases, public comment letters, and blogs.
  • More than a dozen public and private events.
  • Hundreds of engagements and collaborations with influential stakeholders from across civil society, government, and the private sector.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Despite all the chaos of the past year, we've remained focused on our mission of combating illicit finance and unfair tax systems. And in 2026, we aren't slowing down.

In addition to defending long-awaited anti-money laundering reforms like the Corporate Transparency Act, FACT will continue to work with regional partners and allies to establish a new global consensus on tackling illicit gold. On tax, new, hard-won disclosures in the U.S. and Australia will provide fresh data to bring to the fight to make U.S. multinational corporations pay their fair share. And across our issue areas, we'll continue to raise awareness of how opaque financial systems and corporate tax dodging harm communities, democracy, and the planet.

As we gear up for the year ahead, we hope you'll support these efforts. All donations will go directly to financing the work of FACT's amazing team of anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and tax experts.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Onward,

Ian Gary
