Dear John:

I cannot do my due diligence as Labor Commissioner to promote the “health, safety and general well-being” of North Carolina’s workers without speaking up about poverty wages, expanding Medicaid, and the need to address food insecurity and affordable housing.

Lawmakers in the General Assembly have made decisions that have hurt working families by either failing to act, as is the case with Medicaid Expansion, and actively hurting families by slashing unemployment benefits.

Representative Zack Hawkins, event emcee, is a champion of workers’ rights in the General Assembly. Rep. Hawkins will share his perspective about the state of working families in NC and the policies that have been put forth that help or hurt workers.

In the words of the late Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights legend, join us for some 'good trouble' in support of my campaign for Labor Commissioner and fighting for a better North Carolina for working families.
