As you may have seen from our recent job adverts, Liberty has been looking for
an Interim Director as I’ll be taking parental leave this autumn.

After a rigorous recruitment process, I’m delighted to announce that Gracie
Bradley has been appointed for this interim period and she will be stepping up
as Director in October when I go on leave for nine months.

I’m in the fortunate position of knowing Gracie very well. For the past three
years she has been our Policy and Campaigns Manager and we’ve worked together
closely on developing the organisation’s strategy.

Being the Director of Liberty is a sought-after role and we had many brilliant
applications and a very competitive field. In every step of the process – and
throughout her career at Liberty - Gracie has demonstrated she not only has the
experience, intelligence, vision and clarity of thought to lead the
organisation, she is also passionate about making the UK a place where everyone
is treated fairly, with dignity and respect.

At such a crucial time in our history, we couldn’t have a better leader to hold
the watch on our civil liberties and I’m excited to see where she takes the
organisation while I’m away. Please join me in congratulating her on this
appointment and welcoming her to the role.

Martha Spurrier,
Director

PS – If you haven’t done so, please sign up to Liberty’s latest campaign to
repeal the Coronavirus Act. Times of crisis are ripe for watering down human
rights. When the pandemic hit, the Government introduced overbearing legislation
– the Coronavirus Act – which gives the state extraordinary powers to restrict
our civil liberties.

We’re campaigning to get this dangerous legislation of our statute books but we
have less than two months before the Government’s deadline to review the act.

Sign the petition to ask Government to get rid of the Coronavirus Ac and focus
on a response to the pandemic that protects our rights and freedoms.
