PRESS RELEASE

Eagle Forum is Pleased to Announce the
Inaugural Issue of FOCUS on EDUCATION
Eagle Forum Foundation, the education arm of Eagle Forum, is pleased to launch another NEW monthly e-publication focused on education in America.
"The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next." – Abraham Lincoln
Beginning with her best-selling books, Child Abuse in the Classroom and First Reader, Phyllis Schlafly and Eagle Forum have been monitoring and informing parents and citizens about what is being taught in the public school classrooms for decades,” President Colleen Holcomb said.  “We are thrilled to have this new publication to inform parents about what is going on in public schools.  Parents today are busier than ever.  Even the most engaged parents are often surprised to learn what is happening in their children’s schools.”  They need a resource they can trust to keep them informed.  Eagle Forum is known in state houses throughout the country and on Capitol Hill to be a trusted source of information.  As former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann stated, ‘Eagle Forum’s materials are well researched, you can take them to the bank.’”

“As a service to our members and to the general public, Eagle Forum has created this new monthly e-publication, FOCUS on EDUCATION, to provide parents with important and regular information, encouragement, and resources to help them further guide their children’s education,” Editor Pat Daugherty, Ed.D. said.  “The publication will also serve to warn them about programs, policies, and curricula that may be offensive or undermine their personal beliefs.”

Daugherty noted, “Parents need to know that there is a pervasive agenda among public school leadership to indoctrinate children with information designed to encourage conforming to goals of diversity, multiculturalism, political correctness, globalism, hatred for America, failed Common Core standards, national control of testing, data-mining, and social-emotional learning.  It is our goal to equip parents to fight these efforts to infiltrate our children’s minds.”

Dr. Pat Daugherty, editor of FOCUS on EDUCATION, has a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University, and a doctorate from the University of Alabama. In addition to her years of working with college students, she was a consultant in leadership and management training, organizational development, interpersonal communication, and public speaking. Julia Warton, former Eagle Forum Executive Director, joins Pat as Associate Editor. “We are grateful to have these two women bring their years of expertise to this worthy effort,” Holcomb said.

This inaugural issue is dedicated to the memory of longtime Eagle Forum leader and colleague, Donna Hearne, who for 31 years hosted an annual Educational Policy Conference. Donna had been appointed by President Ronald Reagan to serve in the Department of Education and she was appointed by Phyllis Schlafly as Eagle Forum’s first Education Issues Chairman. “It is with great pleasure that we dedicate this new education publication to our longtime Eagle leader and friend, Donna Hearne,” Eagle Forum President Emeritus Eunie Smith said.
