It's Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Last month, the President of the United States called for Arizona Senator Mark Kelly to be hanged.
The president is endorsing political violence against Mark Kelly and other members of Congress who served our country. Mark is my friend. He's a patriot and an outstanding public servant. He flew 39 combat missions in Desert Storm. He launched into space four times as a NASA astronaut. He's served Arizona in the Senate with honor and integrity for over five years, working every day to strengthen our national security and protect Arizonans.
Mark and I are fighting for the same values: defending the Constitution, standing up to authoritarianism, and protecting Arizona families.
But when Mark made a video with military veterans and former national security officials saying that service members have an obligation to refuse illegal orders, Trump called him a "traitor" and said that "in the old days, if you said a thing like that, that was punishable by death."
Now, the FBI is asking to question him. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is investigating him and threatening a court-martial. The entire weight of the federal government is bearing down on a U.S. Senator for defending the Constitution.
This is what authoritarianism looks like.
Mark Kelly is a hero who has devoted his life to serving this country. Trump is a bully who threatens anyone brave enough to stand up to him.
