Dear Friend,
Hi, it’s Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan.
In just 14 days, health insurance premiums could skyrocket for millions of Americans if Congress fails to extend the enhanced premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act. Farmers, small business owners, gig workers and more across the country would face higher health care costs. Many would have to make impossible choices between paying for coverage and affording basic necessities like food on the table or rent. Especially during this holiday season.
A bipartisan majority of House members have signed Democratic-led petition forcing a vote to extend those tax credits by three years. There has been a lot of momentum to pass an extension, but Speaker Johnson has blocked bringing the bill to the floor before the holiday recess and cancelled votes scheduled for tomorrow.
Congress still has time to act.
