Today is International Migrants Day: Traffickers tend to target vulnerable communities such as undocumented youth. The fear of deportation limits a child’s ability to seek help, disclose abuse, or trust the systems around them. Hear from PACT Board Member, Judge Camacho, who shares how traffickers are exploiting this vulnerability and how youth-centered courts can be redesigned to meet young people with compassion, safety, and trust.

Empowering Communities to Prevent Trafficking and Exploitation: Migrant communities face extra challenges when it comes to understanding how to navigate the world safely. PACT works alongside vulnerable communities to equip them with the tools and resources to recognize risks and prevent trafficking and exploitation. We recently led a five-week CSAM prevention workshop series in partnership with Las Doñas, about the realities of trafficking, social media use, and more.

** U.S. Turns Back on Global Declaration Against Human Trafficking: The United Nations General Assembly recently adopted a consensus declaration, reaffirming its resolve to end human trafficking. The U.S. chose to not sign the declaration, citing concerns about references representing a “one-world globalist approach.” As an architect of the global treaty against trafficking (the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons Especially Women and Children), the U.S. should be leading the global fight, not turning its back on it.
