DHS Classifies Just 4% of ICE Arrests as “the Worst”—Most for Nonviolent Offenses - The Department of Homeland Security claims it is targeting the “worst of the worst” immigrants, but its own data show that only about 4% of ICE arrests fall into that category, with most of those individuals lacking violent crime charges. More than half of those labeled “worst of the worst” were not charged with violent offenses, and many had only minor infractions such as traffic violations or immigration-related charges, with some cases even counted multiple times. This data suggests DHS is diverting resources away from pursuing serious criminal threats.
