In PA’s budget, we secured a $5 million increase in state funding for our public libraries. We fought hard for this investment because our libraries are so much more than just buildings full of books; they are the heartbeat of our communities.
For many, the library provides vital resources, like access to the internet to apply for a job. And for our communities, libraries are one of our few remaining "third spaces" where we can gather, connect, and combat isolation without having to spend a dime.
This new funding ensures our libraries can keep the lights on and continue serving everyone who walks through their doors. Libraries will be able to purchase more materials, such as e-books, children’s picture books, and board games, as well as help cover various library programs.
