John, President Trump and his Project 2025 hatchet man Budget Director, Russell Vought, are moving to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), “the global mothership” of climate science and weather modeling and forecasting Trump is making these devastating cuts at the exact moment wildfires are spreading throughout Yuma County in my district. Some 40,000 acres have already burned. This is the largest fire in the county’s history. These are pasturelands that feed our country. Trump, Vought, and their ultra-MAGA lapdog, Lauren Boebert, are condemning people and their homes to *literal hellfire* and putting our food security at risk. Your weather app isn’t magic. Your GPS doesn’t run on luck. Your flight doesn’t land safely by accident. They run on publicly funded science. Over 1,000 of the world's top climate science and weather experts are employed at NCAR and are now about to be laid off. I’m a former civil servant and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the agency that oversees NCAR, and I am running in my home district to fire anti-science MAGA extremist Lauren Boebert. We can turn the page on the stupidity and ignorance of this era and usher in a new golden era of American science and technology if we work together to defeat Lauren Boebert. Boebert is only in Congress because of 546 votes. In 2024, as her Democratic opponent, I had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in this district, overperforming Kamala Harris by 6 pts as Boebert underperformed Trump in every single county.
