Accountability Matters: Our Letter to Congress
In the weeks following the Bondi Beach attack, we have seen a disturbing rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric from elected officials including Senator Tommy Tuberville and Representative Randy Fine. Instead of fostering unity and interfaith solidarity during moments of tragedy, some leaders are exploiting fear to advance divisive political agendas.
This kind of rhetoric is not new but it has intensified with little accountability from Congress or the administration even as hate crimes against Muslims continue to rise.
That is why Emgage formally wrote to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson demanding the censure of Rep. Randy Fine and Sen. Tommy Tuberville and calling for clear consequences when lawmakers engage in hateful and dangerous rhetoric.
