John,
“May this be the last time America elects a president devoid of sympathy and compassion.”
I said those words on the House floor this week because I meant them.
Cruelty from our leaders is not strength. Mocking grief is not leadership. And stripping people of their dignity — especially in moments of loss — is not who we should be as a country.
Leadership matters. Character matters. And the way we talk about people matters.
If you believe our country deserves leaders who lead with decency and compassion, I hope you’ll consider clicking here and chipping in today. Even $5 helps us go into this election year strong, organized, and ready to win. [[link removed]]

I was raised to believe you don’t punch down. You don’t make fun of people. You don’t divide for the sake of division. And you don’t treat cruelty like it’s a virtue.
I’m in Congress to fight for something better.
A country where people can afford a place to live — especially in my home state of Vermont, where the housing crisis is squeezing families and seniors alike.
A country where people can get care when they need it, including mental health care, without fear or stigma.
A country where corporations don’t get to rig the system while working people are left behind.
A country where democracy, due process, and our freedoms are protected — no matter who’s in power.
And if you believe — like I do — that this should be the last time we accept cruelty from our leaders, I need you in this fight with me today.
As we head into a new year, we also head into a moment where real change is possible. A year where we can start building a government that’s rooted in decency, fairness, and respect — and where leaders are held to a higher standard.
If you’re ready to help elect leaders who fight for people, protect our democracy, and lead with compassion, I hope you’ll consider chipping in today. Whether it’s $5, $25, or whatever feels right, your support helps us keep moving forward together. [[link removed]]
I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep fighting. And I’ll keep leading the way I always have — with strength, empathy, and a clear sense of right and wrong.
Thank you for being part of this—
Becca
