Dear Friend,
For the
fifth consecutive year, the prevalence of underage drinking among
America’s teens continued to trend down and Responsibility.org is prouder than ever of our role in the
progress to deliver on our mission to eliminate underage
drinking. The new data from the 2025
Monitoring the Future study is a testament to the
resources and materials Responsibility.org creates to keep kids safe
and alcohol-free.
Survey findings include:
- MOST
KIDS DON’T DRINK
ALCOHOL—A record
high number of teens report they have never consumed
alcohol.
- Binge
drinking has reached record low levels and is nearly
non-existent among
8th and 10th
graders.
- Abstention, as indicated by no use of alcohol,
marijuana, or nicotine (cigarettes or vaping) reached record highs
in 2025.

Delaying the onset of alcohol consumption and the use of
other substance is a key factor in keeping kids safe as their brains
are still developing, and the new data shows America’s teens are
making smarter decisions.
As families gather and celebrate the holidays, we encourage
parents and caregivers to share these messages because when
conversations about alcohol between parents and kids increase,
underage drinking rates decrease.
Parents, you are the #1 influence on your kids’ decisions to
drink—or not drink—alcohol.

We at Responsibility.org will continue to invest in effective
risk and prevention
education programs and resources that help
to eliminate underage drinking. Thank you
for all you do to contribute to and support this
important mission.
