John,

As the Black Lives Matter movement has grown to the largest social movement in U.S. history, ([link removed]) more attention is being paid to how this work is supported. Calls have been growing to address the abysmally low levels of funding going to Black-led organizations and the limited diversity ([link removed]) particularly at senior levels of funding institutions.

Achieving racial justice requires an honest reckoning with ways in which the funding sector is predicated upon and upholds white supremacy. At the same time, it requires funders ‘meeting the moment’ that today’s movement presents to shift power to Black and Brown leaders and communities who have been at the forefront of movements for racial justice for decades.

Dalberg ([link removed]) and Common Future ([link removed]) invite you to a conversation interrogating how wealth-holding institutions can dismantle white supremacy and the current opportunity to advance racial justice, as part of Dalberg’s ‘Shaping an equitable future’ webinar series.

Join us for Part 1 of the conversation on Thursday, July 23rd at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET, which will focus on what funders must give up to dismantle white supremacy to meaningfully shift power.
