Correction: It is Charline Gipson’s second year as Board Chair.

Dear John,

As 2025 comes to a close, I want to recognize how hard this year has been. Day after day we’ve been bombarded by difficult news, often affecting our communities, our families, ourselves. This isn’t the future any of us dreamed of for this country.

And yet, even in the heaviness, we have continued to show up. If you’ve spent time with me, you’ve likely heard me say that everyone can’t do everything, but everyone can do one thing. This year, our community, our grantee partners, our movement allies, have done things every day–big and small–that move us towards justice. This year taught us that showing up can be hard, but is essential.

As we approach the new year, I encourage all of us to take a moment to show up for ourselves–for gratitude, rest, and restoration. We need it. Because in 2026, the work continues, and we will meet it together, grounded in community and in our shared commitment to creating a true democracy that works for all.

In solidarity,

Candid Op-Ed by Teresa C. Younger

In a recent op-ed for Candid, President & CEO Teresa C. Younger reflected on what leadership means in feminist philanthropy after 12 years at the helm of Ms. Foundation.

"What I know now is this: leadership is the art of creating space. Space for people to be seen. Space for ideas to breathe. Space for joy, grief, curiosity, conflict, and rest. And perhaps most importantly, space for ourselves—to pause, to imagine, to evolve."

Jazmin has nearly 20 years of experience in immigrant rights and social justice activism. In her words, "this work taught me that lasting change requires moving resources directly to frontline communities advancing their own bold visions, not controlling them."

On our blog, read about Jazmin's feminist inspo, advice she'd give to her younger self, and more.
