Ensuring access to high-quality, affordable health care is essential for people in Northwest Washington and across the country.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has helped thousands of families in Washington. The law is an important step toward shifting the focus of health care from volume to value, improving the quality of care instead of just growing the quantity of care. Washington is a nationwide leader in expanding people's access to health care.

The ACA tax credits are set to expire at the end of the year, and these credits are critical to families in Northwest Washington: 26,000 people I represent depend on these critical ACA tax credits to afford medical care.

If Republicans in Congress allow ACA tax credits to expire, 80,000 people in Washington will be forced to go without health care.

More uninsured people means higher health care costs for everyone and sicker family members, friends, and neighbors. Because the Chaos Caucus is refusing to get to work, too many hardworking people are facing the reality of choosing between going to the doctor, paying rent, and feeding their kids.

I will keep working alongside House Democrats to extend the ACA tax credits and make health care accessible and affordable.

More soon,

Rick
