John,
House Republicans have failed to renew the enhanced ACA premium tax credits. Their decision puts around 1 million Latino families directly at risk of losing healthcare coverage.[1]
This was avoidable. Democrats pushed clean extensions, and even some moderate Republicans warned what would happen if the subsidies expired. But GOP leadership chose ideological posturing and corporate giveaways instead. The House bill voted on yesterday leaves the subsidy cliff untouched, guaranteeing skyrocketing monthly premiums for families who did everything right and signed up for healthcare coverage.
This moment is exactly why Americans for Tax Fairness exists. Our research arms organizers, community leaders, and media―including Spanish-language media―with the facts needed to hold lawmakers accountable. It turns a policy vote into a clear story of betrayal that voters can understand and act on.

Latino households are more likely to rely on ACA coverage and more likely to feel the pain when premiums spike. If the tax credits expire January 1st as expected, average premiums for subsidized enrollees will rise by about 114% next year.[2]
Families living paycheck to paycheck will be forced to choose between healthcare and rent, prescriptions and groceries. Yet, the healthcare industry continues to cash in. Under Trump-GOP tax policies, major insurers and hospital chains have saved tens of billions of dollars while executive pay and shareholder payouts soar. Republicans just confirmed whose side they are on with their recent vote.
If Republicans think this crisis will quietly fade, they are wrong. Premium notices will arrive. Coverage will be dropped. Families will feel it in real time. Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund is working to ensure that when that happens, the facts are undeniable.
Your support fuels the research, messaging, and organizing that turn outrage into accountability. This is how we make sure Latino communities are not treated as collateral damage in Republicans’ tax games.
