In the last month, Free Speech For People took urgent legal action in four states – California, Massachusetts, Oregon, and now Minnesota – demanding criminal investigations into President Donald Trump, senior Trump officials, and federal immigration officers who have conspired to unlawfully arrest, detain, assault, and terrorize residents, including U.S. citizens.

In Minnesota, our latest letter urges state and local officials to investigate federal agents for violent assaults, unlawful detentions, and racial targeting of Somali Americans and other communities of color.

In California, we documented at least 26 U.S. citizens who were wrongly arrested or detained by federal immigration agents – including a veteran, a pregnant woman, and a child with disabilities.

In Massachusetts, Oregon, and Minnesota, our legal filings detail a coordinated pattern of abuse under the Trump Administration’s so-called “Patriot” operations, including:

These aren’t isolated incidents. They are officially encouraged abuses. State and local prosecutors have both the authority and obligation to act. As detailed in our letters, there is no federal immunity for committing these crimes.

That’s why we’re pushing state and local officials to do what federal prosecutors won’t: enforce state criminal law and protect their residents.
