As 2025 comes to an end, I find myself struggling to put this year into words. Every day feels heavier than the last. We’ve watched unimaginable suffering unfold in Gaza, continued Israeli bombings in Lebanon, and unsettling developments across the region. What remains so troubling is that those here in Washington with the power to stop all of this have chosen not to. It’s hard to celebrate so called cease-fires in Lebanon and Palestine when bombs still fall and lives are still being lost.

I know you feel this too. Like me, you’ve done everything you can—speaking out, showing up, giving what you can—while too many in Washington have failed humanity. It’s painful to know that our tax dollars help fund this inhumanity. And as we look toward 2026, the challenges ahead are enormous. But we cannot give up.

We’ll keep fighting for an end to the genocide in Gaza. We’ll keep defending your right to speak freely, your right to protest, and the rights of students, immigrants, and those fleeing violence. We’ll keep pushing back against hate and discrimination. That’s what AAI does—and we do it because of you.

Why Your Support Matters Now

For more than 40 years, the Arab American Institute has been your voice in the fight for justice and equality. Together, we’ve achieved incredible things: securing the MENA category on the census, protecting free speech, and shining a light on hate crimes. But the truth is, the issues closest to our hearts—Palestine, Lebanon, and civil liberties—don’t get foundation funding. That means we rely on you.

As this year ends, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Our community is being targeted for standing up for Palestinian lives. Students are facing threats for speaking out. Hate crimes continue to rise. And in Gaza, the suffering continues. To keep our work going, AAI must raise $400,000 before December 31.
