When we “save waves”, we’re protecting surf ecosystems.
When we protect surf ecosystems, we’re being proactive and preserving something invaluable for tomorrow, for next year and for the next generation. We're taking action and shaping futures together.
Few know this lesson better than André Avelar - our Regional Coordinator for the Azores and leader of Save Azores Waves.
Through our shared efforts and projects, André is advocating for Azores' surf breaks and bringing along younger generations. This year, he hosted dozens of workshops and educational sessions across the 9 islands to teach kids how and why it's important to protect surf ecosystems.

Watch André’s journey and the lessons he has to share from the Azores in our new short film: “O Mentor No Mar ([link removed]) ."
Directed by Lukas Linden Olesinski with producer Daniela Laborinho Schwartz, we screened this film in the 2026 Save The Waves Film Festival and are proud to officially release it online.
Watch. Be inspired. Take action.
If you believe in saving waves and shaping the future, take one small step today and make a donation so we can continue this work in 2026. Contribute now. ([link removed])

A contribution of $25 - $100 or more can make a big difference. Together, we can achieve our $100,000 fundraising goal and protect the places we love.
