John,
Last week, the world watched another community shattered by gunfire.
During a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, two gunmen opened fire on a Jewish community event, killing 15 people and injuring more than 40. Australian officials have called it the worst mass shooting there since Port Arthur in 1996.
Australian leaders responded by pledging to tighten their already strict gun laws even further, including audits of firearm licenses and limits on how many guns a person can own. They are treating this attack as a mandate to act, not an excuse for inaction.
Here in the United States, we live with far higher levels of gun violence and far weaker national standards, even though a clear majority of Americans support stricter gun laws. Recent polling shows that about 58 percent of adults favor stronger gun laws on firearm sales.
We can choose a different path, but it will only happen if we keep organizing, educating, and advocating for policies that match the scale of the crisis.
Your support helps us do exactly that. It allows us to push for stronger laws, work with partners to implement them, and bring a public health approach to safety that centers people, not politics.
Will you make a year end contribution now to help us turn public support for safety into real change? [[link removed]]
When we invest in this work, we honor communities from Newtown to Providence to Bondi by choosing action over resignation.
In solidarity,
Alliance for Gun Responsibility
