Green Wins Legal Victory Over Sham OIG Investigation

CROWN POINT, IN - Today the Committee to Elect Jennifer-Ruth Green released the following statement in response to Green’s legal victory over the Indiana Inspector General:

“Today’s settlement represents a major legal victory for Jennifer-Ruth Green. An incompetent and politically compromised Office of Inspector General attempted throw the kitchen sink at her based on a politically motivated sham of an investigation, including 9 charges alleging everything from criminal conduct to inappropriate behavior, along with a laundry list of petty accusations. The OIG completely caved for a settlement to save face with the Ethics Commission and then tried to use today’s forum to smear Jennifer-Ruth again – claiming they backed off more serious charges because the prosecutor’s office was handling. The Office of the Inspector General knows full-well they brought a completely junk case. The OIG knew they wouldn’t win at a lower standard of proof before the Ethics Commission and they know this case will never go anywhere under a higher standard of proof in criminal court. This entire exercise is about trying to destroy Jennifer-Ruth Green’s reputation in the media and
the court of public opinion.

Once Jennifer-Ruth’s legal team began presenting overwhelming evidence the OIG would have uncovered had they bother to investigate, including affidavits, recordings, text messages, emails, and phone records, that dismantled these fabricated claims, the Inspector General quickly moved to settle. The prospect of depositions involving senior officials within the Administration further accelerated the sudden shift in the OIG’s desire to settle.

After attempting to portray Jennifer-Ruth Green as immoral, deviant, and again trying to smear her as a criminal today, the matter was ultimately concluded with Jennifer-Ruth taking responsibility for minor violations that occurred: a personal Facebook page used in absence of any Administration social media policy whatsoever, and the use of a state vehicle that had been explicitly approved by her government attorney who the OIG never bothered to interview during its sham investigation.

Jennifer-Ruth accepted this settlement and responsibility for minor violations because she has integrity, and she recognized that justice and fairness were unlikely in an environment where pursuing full vindication would require a prolonged legal battle costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, against vindictive actors wielding unlimited taxpayer-funded resources to attack her reputation, character, and career.

She walks away with her integrity fully intact and immense pride in the work she performed across Indiana alongside dedicated public servants. The people of Indiana now face a clear choice: believe a decorated combat veteran who has devoted her life to service or believe political hacks and faceless bureaucrats motivated by petty grievances and personal career advancement.

This episode should serve as a warning to every Hoosier. If powerful government actors are willing to weaponize the state of Indiana against Jennifer-Ruth Green—just as the federal government was weaponized against President Trump—they are more than capable of doing the same if they seek to destroy you.”
