![]() A month ago, I joined other military and intel veterans in Congress and restated a fundamental truth: the oath that we swear is to the Constitution, and no servicemember is forced to follow an illegal order. Donald Trump and his pathetic lapdogs didn’t seem to like hearing that basic message. Since then, the President called for us to be arrested, jailed, hanged, and sentenced to death. Stephen Miller accused us of insurrection. Scott Perry said our actions were seditious. Even the FBI was apparently brought in. John, the idea that our troops do not have to follow illegal orders is not a controversial one. Yet the President and his enablers would rather threaten violence than respect our laws and our Constitution. It’s pathetic, and it’s weak. I swore an oath to the Constitution when I entered the Naval Academy at 17, and I swore it again when I was elected to represent Western PA in Congress. No amount of threats from anyone will stop me from upholding my oath or doing my job for the people I was elected to serve.
