Today, the Senate returns for its first day back from recess, but we're still facing a major hurdle to the next coronavirus relief package: Mitch McConnell.
Majority Leader McConnell said he would block any legislation that doesn't include his provision to give corporations immunity, even if they fail to protect their workers.
It's dangerous -- McConnell's provision would disincentivize employers from taking the necessary precautions to keep their workers safe and exacerbate an already devastating health crisis.
Once again, McConnell is putting corporate interests over the well-being of American workers and enough is enough. Add your name to mine and tell McConnell to take action on coronavirus relief aid ASAP.
Americans are worried about being able to afford their rent, mortgages, utility bills, medical expenses, and groceries. We need to ensure they have living wages, another round of stimulus checks, unemployment insurance, worker protections, rental and food assistance, and a moratorium on evictions.
But McConnell isn't taking Americans' interests into consideration -- he's instead prioritizing the interests of his corporate donors.
We need to put pressure on McConnell to do his job for the American people -- add your name and tell McConnell to take action on coronavirus relief aid ASAP.
With gratitude,
Sherrod
