It's hard to believe 2025 is almost behind us, John.
As the year winds down, we want to pause and reflect on everything we accomplished together. The difference you make—when you take action, volunteer, donate, and talk about the importance of protecting our public lands within your community—is nothing short of incredible.
But the work isn't finished.
Right now, America’s public lands and outdoor spaces—the places where we find solace, inspiration, hope, and connection—are facing challenges unlike any we’ve seen. Rapid federal policy shifts, threats to funding, and mass layoffs and firings are putting countless critical conservation and community projects at risk.
But we didn't back down this year, and neither did you. Your support, voice, and passion make this work possible. Here is a glimpse of your impact with Trust for Public Land in 2025:

🌳 Thanks to your support, 9.7 million people can now walk to a park in 10 minutes or less. We are actively closing the gap and bringing green spaces to neighborhoods across the country.
🏫 Together, we transformed 13 community schoolyards into vibrant green spaces for learning and play. We're building health, connection, and safe places to play right where kids learn.
🥾 Because of your partnership, we improved access to 55 miles of trails across the country, connecting people to nature and to each other. Every mile is a step towards a more connected community.
⛰️ Your efforts protected 100,060 acres of public lands from irresponsible development and private interests. Your support fuels everything we do, and we thank you for believing in a future where everyone has access to the great outdoors.

We’ve accomplished so much together, but our fight is far from over. Today, 1 in 3 people in America—over 100 million individuals, including 28 million children—still can't walk to a park within 10 minutes of their homes. Millions more lack access to safe and accessible walking trails. Without intervention, an estimated 23 million acres of vital forest could be permanently lost to development, logging, and fires by 2050—jeopardizing the clean air, clean water, and climate resilience these natural spaces provide.
Your continued partnership ensures we can keep tackling these challenges head on. Together, we’re building a future where everyone has access to the outdoors and where nature remains a source of strength, joy, and belonging for all.
Thank you for standing with us and for the outdoors.
