Children across Dearborn are finding confidence and comfort by reading aloud to shelter dogs.
Hello Jack,
At Friends for Animals, we believe even our youngest friends can change lives – both theirs and the animals'. That's why we started our Read to Rover program.
Ten-year-old Morgan loves reading, and loves animals. She told us, "You feel like [you are] important… they're cuddling up to you… you're reading and it's really fun," when she reads to the dogs.
In this judgement-free environment, shy readers blossom.
Each time a child reads to a gentle shelter dog, two lives are changed: the child learns confidence, and the lonely shelter dog gets comfort and socialization.
We need your help to keep Read to Rover sessions running. Your donation provides training for volunteers, books, and a calm space for each session.

Thank you for helping us nurture young readers and comfort our animal friends.
