This last new moon of the year (and Winter Solstice) is inviting us to slow down, get quiet and tune into the truth that is already within us. This is not the energy of performing or proving, but of presence. Of turning inward, dropping deep and trusting the process.
The good news is that the body has a built in mapping system to guide us in the dark. Bodies are designed to sense, adjust and survive change. Long before we had plans, beliefs, or language, we had somatic intelligence that oriented us is relationship to all of life. And these maps are still within us...
-our sensations give us real time information and feedback about what is happening now so that we can move and respond from a place of power.
-the nervous system protects us by scanning for safety and tracking our capacity to navigate uncertain terrain.
-creative movement allows us to learn and grow by through small actions and experiments. It is through this practice we cultivate the capacity to try something different.
-embodiment helps us discern between what is real and perceived. Noticing the quality of sensation helps us differentiate between projective signals and conditioned anxiety.
-rhythms help release tension and recover the body from stress, trauma and conditioning by calming the nervous system, regulating hormones, and detoxing stored tension.
-learning to trust the body through its natural cycles and changes helps us build trust for the broader cycles we are a part of.
This new moon is an invitation to practice presence over performance. It is the courage to let truth emerge without control or approval. Truth does not arrive at some destination but dwells in the in-between and uncertain. This is an initiation into the dark underworld where we turn towards the unseen and everything is revealed. Over the next few weeks, we'll be reflecting and ritualizing the transition between where we are coming from and where we are going. Check it out 👇
