Barbara Rose Johns (1935-1991) led a 1951 walk-out protesting conditions at her segregated high school in Prince Edward County, Virginia.
Virginia gave this statue to the National Statuary Hall Collection in 2025.

We invite campaigns, unions, businesses, non profit organizations, FCDC committees and caucuses, and individuals to purchase a Program Ad. The deadline to buy an advertisement is Tuesday, December 30th by 5 PM.

Fairfax County General Assembly Delegation’s Pre-2026 Session Public Hearing (Fairfax County government public meetings calendar)- Sat., Jan. 10 @ 9 AM; Board Auditorium, Fairfax County Government Center. The Fairfax County delegation to the General Assembly will hold a hearing for public comment regarding the upcoming 2026 session.
