This year, CMD exposed the right-wing Freedom Foundation’s launch of a new organization to “destroy” teachers unions and their hiring of the scandal-plagued Ryan Walters — who resigned as Oklahoma’s state superintendent in September — to lead that effort. We revealed the corporate-backed groups behind Utah’s new ban on collective bargaining by public employees. And we published a “Know Your Enemy” guide to the dark money groups attacking unions in the states, including ALEC (the American Legislative Exchange Council) and its anti-union playbook.

Right now, America’s embattled workers need watchdogs who won’t back down. They need independent reporting that identifies who’s writing anti-union legislation, who’s funding it, and how these efforts spread from state to state.
