Lasting Effects of Governor Evers' 400-Year Property Tax Increase

As property tax bills begin to arrive in mailboxes, Wisconsinites are facing the reality of Governor Evers' infamous 400-year veto.

By "creatively" editing the 2023 budget, the Governor turned a short-term $325 per-pupil school funding increase into permanent property tax increase.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld the move and cemented the 400-year veto as constitutional. By 2033, this maneuver will have added over $3 billion to the taxpayer tab, ensuring that Wisconsin property owners remain on the hook for generations to come, even if we live on Mars by then.
