I watch A LOT of Bluey these days and parenting has made it impossible to ignore what’s just not working in DC and the responsibility government has to make life tangibly better for YOU, the residents of DC, and our kids.
Committing myself to a life of public service was never a question for me, it’s simply how I was raised. I’m a third-generation Washingtonian, and I grew up in a neighborhood where people fought and cared for one another. My mother was a postal worker, my grandmother was the lunch lady at Alice Deal Middle School, and they and this city truly raised me to see my neighbors as an extension of my family.
I want to be able to raise my son in the District. I want him to grow up knowing his neighbors too. He and every child across the District should feel safe and have access to more opportunities than I did growing up.
That means investing in people, our young people, right now.
We have a real opportunity to change DC for the better, not just for our lifetimes but for our children and our children’s children. What we achieve today sets the foundation for our future.
I’m motivated to address issues like affordability, public safety, and education. I will act boldly and with urgency, and I hope you join me.
