Supporting Mississippi Forestry and Timber Industry
I recently joined other members of the Mississippi Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Greer. This letter supports American forestry and condemns the European Union regulations that negatively impact our timber industry. The European Union is seeking to infringe on our property rights, dictating how Mississippians manage their land. You can read our letter here:

White House Christmas Celebration
Haley and I enjoyed being at the White House celebrating this holiday season. Thank you to President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for the invitation. We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Legislation on the Floor This Week
H.R. 6703 – Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Promotes real affordability by reducing premiums and expanding choices for workers, families, and small businesses.
H.R. 4776— SPEED Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Amends the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 to clarify the ambiguous provisions and facilitate a more efficient, effective, and timely environmental review process.
H.R. 1366— Mining Regulatory Clarity Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Provides for the location of multiple hardrock mining mill sites and established the Abandoned Hardrock Mine Fund.
H.R. 845— Pet and Livestock Protection Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Requires the Secretary of the Interior to reissue regulations removing the gray wolf from the list of endangered and threatened wildlife under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
H.R. 3616— Reliable Power Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Amends the Federal Power Act to provide for the Federal Regulatory Commission (FERC) review of certain federal regulations that may affect the reliable operation of the bulk-power system. This requires the electric reliability organization (ERO) to conduct annual long-term reliability assessments of the bulk-power system.
H.R. 3632— Power Plant Reliability Act of 2025
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Enhances authority under Section 207 of the Federal Power Act to allow affected parties to contest the retirement of generation resources, for up to a 5-year period, if a retirement causes harm to the reliability of the bulk power system.
H.R. 4371— Kayla Hamilton Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Requires the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), for children 12 years of age and older, to request the criminal records of unaccompanied alien children (UACs) in their home country and determine if they have gang tattoos. UACs determined to have gang tattoos or a criminal history relating to gang activity or affiliation would not be released to a sponsor but instead placed in a secure facility.
H.R. 498— Do No Harm in Medicaid Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Prohibits federal Medicaid payment for specified gender transition procedures for individuals under the age of 18.
H.R. 3492— Protect Children’s Innocence Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
Prohibits doctors from performing genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration procedures on minors.
