Dear John,

This past weekend, Emgage hosted its first Muslim American Leadership Summit in San Francisco as part of an initiative to engage new communities around the country.

The day-long retreat focused on our community's role in shaping the civic and political space, how we can harness strategies and tools to build power, and leading policy discussions on topics such as Census 2020. Leaders from the business, nonprofit, and political world shared experiences and best practices for successful Get Out The Vote operations and organizing around issues that affect us all.

Our team is grateful to all those who joined us for this historic gathering. We are also thankful to Dilawar Syed, our Bay Area Board member, who drove this new strategic initiative, and to all of our passionate staff and volunteers. Stay tuned for our next engagement!

“Anyone who has lived through the past two years and believes that voting does not matter is not being honest. Muslim Americans can only protect their rights and contribute to how this country is governed by getting involved. The first step is to vote.” - Wa’el Alzayat, Emgage CEO

“We can laugh at the absurdity of this President, but the reality is that there is nothing funny about relentless racism and incitement to violence... Now is the time for us all to be active in public life and to support orgs like Emgage.” - Mehdi Hasan, Award Winning Journalist
