Donna took to Capitol Hill last week to meet with the offices of numerous Senators to educate and advocate for key child online protection measures, including the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act (Senate version) which aims to establish guidelines to protect minors from harmful material on social media platforms, as well as sunsetting Section 230 of the Community Decency Act (CDA 230), used by Big Tech companies to exploit the law to shield them from accountability or responsibility as their platforms inflict harm on American children and prevents them from being sued.

She also met many times with senior staff at the White House to advocate for recommendations contained in the Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge, supported by 70+ NGOs and survivor leaders, which calls on the White House to prioritize kids' online safety via aggressive enforcement of existing laws, new policy, and presidential directives. They are listening!

As the year comes to a close, the window to make a lasting impact on children’s online safety is still open. Every day, EIE is working to stay ahead of rapidly changing digital risks—informing parents, elevating survivor voices, and pressing policymakers and tech companies to put children first. This work is urgent, and it is only possible because of committed supporters who refuse to accept the status quo.
