In response, Trisha Calvarese, Lauren Boebert’s Democratic opponent, called out Excel on Twitter. The Denver metro area’s local Fox News affiliate, Fox 31 KDVR, saw our post and brought Trisha on to discuss it. Earlier in the week Trisha also appeared on Conservative talk radio station KHOW to talk about our race. We took a lot of flak for going on these conservative platforms, here’s why we did it. Even if every registered Democrat in Colorado’s 4th (Boebert’s district) came out to vote in 2026 it would still not be enough to flip this seat. The path to victory here requires that we win Unaffiliated voters and even peel off some GOP voters. We aim to persuade these voters, not by trying to out-conservative someone like Boebert. That’s a losing playbook. We do it through the power of our populist policies, and with a high energy candidate voters can get excited about. MAGA claims to be for the working class and against the elites but in reality their movement is the inverse. Our populism is real, we support the little guy and are taking on Big Tech, Big Ag, and Big Pharma, busting their monopolies, strengthening the middle class and actually ending America’s blood soaked foreign policy. To spread this unabashed left-populist message we have to meet voters where they are - on the TV and radio platforms that they use to get their news, including Fox News and conservative talk radio stations like KHOW. This strategy is working — in 2024 when Boebert and Trisha went head to head, Trisha had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in this district, overperforming VP Harris by 6 pts. And just a few weeks ago, the Chair of the Colorado Libertarian party became a Democrat citing Trisha as the reason for her defection. This is how we splinter the MAGA base – and win.
